On sunday I went down to south Cornwall to the mount edgcumbe classic car show and country fair. The day started off bright but within minutes off getting on the A30 the heavens opened and we were driving in torrential rain. The idea of walking around a car show in the rain wasn't filling me with enthusiasm. We continued further into south Cornwall on the A38 but this time it wasn't the rain that was slowing us down but a car accident that had shut the road. After a slight detour and a drive along the coast we finally reached the show.
Looking across the river towards Plymouth and i wasn't sure that the rain would hold off, The clouds gathered and the heavens opened again. Luckily we were in the que for the car park and by the time we had parked up the sun was breaking through and the rain stopped. It was actually quite warm.
This is a really good show, with lots to do. A massive field full of amazing cars, a country fayre with lots to do for the kids including a variety of bouncy castles and tombolas. For the adults there was live music and the bar, which i must say at £2.50 a pint you can't go wrong.
My favourite cars had to be the american cars, and the car of the show for me was the 1947 plymouth, that has been turned into a gnarly led sled style roof chop.
A thoroughly good show, well worth visiting. as well as the car show and country fayre, there was also a small car boot sale, the country house, the gardens and tea rooms, the river and another pub. plus the whole country park to explore and all this at a cost of £5 per car. A brilliant show for Cornwall and i look forward to going again next year.
